Castration
Should a country practice castration?
I was reading an article in the Straits Times about a stepfather who had been repeatedly raping his 15-years old stepdaughter. It was so sickening that I felt nauseous. Further, he told her not to speak to anyone of such incidents. It went on for 3 years until the stepdaughter finally braced herself and then the mother was made known. This was then reported to the Police and thus he was arrested. He was jailed for 17 years for two separate charges, running concurrently and 24 strokes.
Serve him right, you say? I do not agree to the punishment given for such offence. He deserves more severe punishment.
Think about this: she was raped in the place where she feels safe and secure. A place where she runs to, properly fed, seeks comfort and shelter. A place called HOME. But all these were destitute due to the beast living in her comfort zone, seizing every opportunity he gets to fulfill his lust.
If only Singapore practice castration, I do not think such events would be an article in the papers.
