Adreanna Qystina

6 November 2007
2000hrs

“Oh no… It seems that your baby has yet to turn. She still in breech position, she seems comfortable.” My gynae was shocked to see my little precious still enjoying her time in the womb. Both my mother and sister were excited to ‘see’ her via the ultrasound. She was happily sucking her thumb.

I had to sign the documents, agreeing to a C-section on 9 November 2007.

On the way home, I was telling my hubby that I would not get the chance to experience the contractions or even water bag burst.

7 November 2007
1235hrs

I could feel my side of the bed was wet.

Apparently, I spoke too soon. My water bag burst and warm fluid kept on flowing. It’s time for my little darling to see the world. Contractions been taking place during the journey from home to the hospital with an interval of 8 mins. My mum and hubby were right beside me, comforting me, taking my mind off the pain. By the time the clock says 0300hrs, the interval seems to be nowhere. The pain was excruciating. To break ones finger would be less painful than having contractions. The last thing I heard was my gynae assuring the nurses that it was time to push me to the operating theatre. I was given an epidural and the next thing I knew, I couldn’t feel my lower body. The only thing that I could feel was little slaps from the nurses to make sure I was awake.

0435hrs

I can hear the cries of my little precious. That was the time, little Adreanna Qystina binte Abdul Rahim was born. I got the privilege to be the first one to kiss her on her cheek.

That’s when I realized: WELCOME TO MOTHERHOOD

It's My Party...

Sorry… Haven’t update for such a long time… Been very busy with work.

Anyway, I just celebrated my 29th birthday. My colleagues asked if I were to celebrate my special day with my hubby. I rather spend my birthday with my hubby and family. My family is always there for me on my previous birthdays so I don’t see the reason why I shouldn’t be spending it with the people whom I love most. I can’t bear to celebrate it without them.

No fancy dinner is required. Small dinner with mum, sis, hubby and my little angels (Athyrha, Fardeen & Sasha). They made birthday cards for me. Mum, Nina & Aim gave me very sweet gifts.

My dad wasn’t around on my birthday so he suggested for another dinner the day after. We had dinner at Swensen’s, had more fun laughing and teasing one another than enjoying the food.

Dad suggested to catch a movie: his treat. Why not??? Watched Wild Hogs and chill till late night even though it’s a school/work night.

Overall, I enjoyed myself very much with the people whom I can’t bear to live without.

Special thanks to my mum and dad. You are the best.

mummy-to-be

“Please proceed to Room 2”, said the nurse.

“Yes? Please take a seat. So, tell me what is wrong?” said the doctor.

“Well, I had an excruciating pain in my abdomen for the past few days.”

“Any bleeding? Anyway, have you done a pregnancy test on your own?”

“No bleeding. I did a pregnancy test yesterday but the result was rather vague.”

“It seems that you are indeed pregnant. The test shows a positive result. Please proceed there, we need to do a test to see it the baby is doing fine.”

As I lay down on the bed, legs spread apart, a cold metal instrument was inserted into me. On my left, a scanning screen.

“It’s an early pregnancy. We can’t tell if it’s a healthy pregnancy. We may have to do a blood test later.”

As he was speaking, he pushed in the metal instrument into me, trying hard to get a better image of my baby. It was then, it hit me: I’m going to be a mother soon. From that moment onwards, a mix feelings of joy and anxiety battered in a pan.

And there it was a small image of my baby on the screen. I can’t wait to see my baby during the next scan.

With all these, my hubby sat quietly, offering his smile to me.

Going to Mars???

I don’t ask for a river of flowing chocolate. But all I can say is Mars bar has been my all-time favourite since I was very young.

I remember those days, living in Bendemeer Road, where there was an old lady who was wheelchair bound, selling tidbits on a push-cart just outside the lift lobby of Blk 31 Bendemeer Road. My eyes would simple linger to the chocolates. I would then grab the huge chocolate in golden foil that resembles a coin (speaking of which, it is rather difficult for me to get my fingers on them lately). It was for 20¢ per piece. I could simply wolf down a stack of 20 pieces.

I was so hook to it until my dad switch my addiction to Mars bar.

Mars bar is so irresistible: a complete chocolate bar was sold in the USA until 2000. It contained plain nougat, caramel and milk chocolate. Goodness gracious me. How can one resist the temptation?

In the UK and some areas of Europe, limited edition Mars Bars have occasionally gone on sale. One of these has been the Mars Midnight, which has the same filling as a normal Mars Bar but is covered in dark chocolate. Several of these limited lines were normally available products in the Australian market. In Canada (Mars Dark) it has been added to the product line on a permanent basis. Some of the Limited Edition Mars Bars have been:-

· Mars Almond;
· Mars Dark and Light;
· Mars Midnight Ice Cream;
· Mars Midnight;
· Mars Gold;
· Mars Mini Eggs (Available around
Easter);
·
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest Mars Bar;
· Mars Triple Chocolate (Australia);
· Mars Lava (Australia);
· Mars Miniatures (5
fun size bars in the same packet);
· Mars XXX - (Australia) sold in gold wrapping.

Seoul Garden on 3 February 2007

these are the people who's been behind me all this while... each one of them plays a different role that spice up my life. thanx, guys. i luv you many-many...
lemme introduce them to you.
front on the left:
Farhan (mi brother's bestfren),
Rahim (mi one and only darling hubby whom I'm so crazily in luv with),
Abg Han (mi dearest uncle whom I look for everyday @ work),
Sadrina (mi sister's bestfren).
front on the right:
Shah (mi cousin),
Fardly (he's mi darling brother),
Serynna (mi one & only irritating but entertaining sister).
ps: not in pic are ghazry (mi dearest uncle) & ridzuan (serynna's bofren)

Hmm...

On a serious note, I hate it when people ask me how my marriage life is. It is barely 3 months of which I feel that the honeymoon period is basically over.

Questions start pouring in. Such as: any little feet yet? When? Got any apartment? Where? How many rooms in the flat that we are looking at? Etc, etc, etc… With all that I get more nauseous than any pregnant lady in their 1st trimester. But I brushed all these questions/queries away with a huge smile on my face (if only my smile could reach to my both ears, I would end up looking just like Joker).

Though, sometimes I feel like telling these people that I am not the one contributing sperms, I am not the one having the higher income, I am not the only one who is doing the decision making, I kept mum. In simple terms, I just a WIFE. For goodness sake, reserve these questions and throw them to my husband and not to me.

No doubt, I know all of them are pretty much anxious to learn about my marriage life blooming. They are also concerned about me of which I can never deny how much I appreciate that.

Does anyone ever regret the moment they are legally solemnized? I ponder.

To be continued… (cuz I’m having writer’s block)

How to choose shoes that could have you dancing all night:-

Shop at the end of the day (or, if you are buying sneakers, after a run), when feet are swollen.

Have both feet measured before buying. Foot size changes as we age, and as we gain and lose weight – and one foot tends to be large than the other. Buy shoes to fit the larger foot.

Do not shop by number; sizes vary between different styles and designers. Try shoes on and walk around to see if they are comfortable.

Replace sneakers after running 500km to 800km or doing 300hrs of aerobic activities.

Make sure there is about one centimeter of space between your longest toe and the end of the toe box.

Do not buy shoes that are too tight, thinking they will stretch. There is no such thing as breaking them in.

Do not wear the same shoes two days in a row. Let them breathe so they would not collect moisture and promote the growth of foot fungi.
